Post Polio Syndrome |
|
|
At the age of four, I was taken ill with bulbar Polio. With the loving care given me by my parents, I am one of the few survivors of this type of Polio who has retained my voice (and according to some, I never shut up).
I am discovering, as I approach my senior years, that 'the Dragon' has returned. I struggle every day with the physical and emotional pain of Post Polio Syndrome, an evil phenomenon that has invaded my life. My joints and muscles ache for no real reason, and I tire easily. In return for the joy I had with my Morgan horses for over 25 years, I am a Healing Touch for Animals Practitioner. This serves to aid dogs and horses in pain, which also works to relieve my discomforts. I don't consider my self disabled, and am in awe of those who can achieve so much against impossible odds. I will be adding links on this page to sites that give helpful information to those of us 'fighting the Dragon once more'. Korky Member and supporter of the North Central Post Polio Support Group. |

Many of the following websites and links were provided by members of the PPS list - an extended family who understand.
The lists are complimentary and each has a different focus. I've attempted
to describe that focus with a short description here. You're urged to read
the more descriptive information below and actually try out one or more of
the lists to get a better idea of what each list is
like.
