More About Me

Welcome to more of Korky's Korner!

When I first permanently retired I mentioned to my dear friend in Michigan, Marti, that I was interested in quilting.  She suggested that I find a shop nearby and ask lots of questions.   She mentioned that it was a hobby of gadgets and would fit right in with my curious nature.   I discovered a quilt shop less than three miles from my home, and the love of quilting was borne.  The ladies that work at Tomorrow's Treasures, Too are not only very knowledgeable but are friendly and always willing to help.  I started to take lessons and am very proud of my progress.  Perhaps my creative juices have found another outlet as I also attended my first sculptured doll art class.  My mom was a super seamstress and made adorable topsy-turvy dolls.  I am going to try my hand at making one for each of my granddaughters.  I will be adding photos of my projects and am open for questions and suggestions.  Please click on the image to enlarge.

One of my first projects was a wall hanging of four Celtic knots done in a deep green, using the bias rods process.  I'd like to find more knots to include in a larger throw or quilt.    ,
These are panel wall hangings that I completed for my three daughters for Christmas.  Next year I'll try something a little more challenging..   ,    ,
This is a collection of six snowmen placements that I made for my stepson and his family.  Really cute.
My very first project and class was making this wall hanging sampler, which included a variety of blocks and colors utilizing common quilting shapes and styles.   ,    ,
The first quilt was a reversible 'one block wonder' that I made for my granddaughter Stephanie.  The second quilt shown was one I made for my grandson Troy using the 'flying geese' pattern and a more manly reverse.  The third quilt was made for my 3 year old granddaughter Sydney to cover up with when watching TV.  Kittens on one side and princess stuff on the other.
